Something I've wanted to blog about for a while now is my ever growing red lipstick collection, and there's no time like the present, so here we go! Now first things first, I will admit I'm a bit of a red lipstick junkie, and the nine shades you will see before you are probably only two thirds of the collection, but there's something I love about a bold, bright lip colour that just keeps me coming back for more! I didn't intend on showing you quite as many shades, and I know that some of them look very similar (I blame the camera...) but I just couldn't whittle my favourites down any further than this, plus I wanted to show you a range of brands and price brackets to make sure there's something here for everyone!
1. Mac Amplified Creme Lipstick in Morange
2. Bella Pierre Mineral Lipstick in Mandarina
3. Lola Matte Long Lasting Lipstick in Cheeky Cherry
4. Mac Matte Finish Lipstick in Lady Danger
5. Seventeen Lasting Fix Lipstick in Showcase
6. Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in 98 Coromandel*
7. Mac Matte Finish Lipstick in Russian Red
8. Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour in 31 Cambon
9. Natural Collection Moisture Shine Lipstick in Crimson
I won't bore you with every last detail of each lipstick, but I will talk briefly about their finishes and overall colour quality, starting with the first four, what I like to call my orangey-reds! These four are probably my most reached for at the moment, or at least whilst we were experiencing the sunnier weather, as they are just so bright and scream summer to me. I will admit that I wasn't aware at how alike these four were in shade, but in finish and formula they do differ (promise!). Morange is my favourite of these, as it's super creamy and Amplified Mac lipsticks are my favourite formula from the range. It's very pigmented and long lasting, as are all the others. Mandarina is a new addition from a recent Glossybox and one that I'm really loving. It's again really creamy and very similar to Morange. Cheeky Cherry and Lady Danger are pretty much exact dupes in colour and formula. They are both matte and extremely long lasting, but aren't drying at all on the lips when worn with a balm. I turn to these when I have a busy day or a special occasion when I want my colour to stay put as long as possible.
Number 5 and 6 are what I would call my 'true' reds, as they are the perfect pillar box shades that I think would suit most skin tones. Seventeen's Lasting Fix lipstick in Showcase was my first venture into the world of bold lip colours, and it's still one of my firm favourites. The almost matte finish and staying power of this one is brilliant for such a budget buy. I also love the Chanel Rouge Allure Lip Colour in Coromandel as seen in my recent red lip tutorial, for a more luxurious, glossy finish in a similar shade.
Finally we have the deep reds, running from 7 to 9 (I promise you they look different to the rest!). These are the shades I turn to more in the Autumn/Winter months as they are fairly deep in colour, some almost berry-like. These are Mac's Russian Red, Chanel Rouge Coco in Cambon and Natural Collection's Crimson; all very different price ranges but all pack a punch when it comes to colour and finish! Russian Red, probably the darkest of the three, has a matte finish, making it stick around for a long time. Chanel's Cambon is one of my all time favourites, and is a lovely shade with a really smooth, satin finish and almost raspberry tone. Last but not least is one of my favourite bargains at just £1.99; Crimson by Natural Collection at Boots! This is super moisturising, and although you do have to layer on more than usual for a good build up of colour, the shade is lovely and it won't break the bank!
So jealous of your collection!!
