ENRAPTURE ENCODE TOTEM STYLER

Most of you will know that I recently got my hands on the Enrapture Encode Totem Styler after months of wanting it but it always been a little out of my price range. I spotted it on Amazon a few weeks back at half price, so was quick to order as I know how quickly they can sell out when reduced!  Since I  tweeted/Instagram'd about the styler, I've had many questions sent my way asking if it's worth the hype and if it's actually as good as people make it out to be, so I decided to write a little about it to let you all know my thoughts.
I must admit, when a product is raved about on the blogosphere, I tend to be a little skeptical as to whether or not people are actually being truthful about the product, or just jumping on the bandwagon. Add to this the mediocre reviews on Amazon and I was feeling a little unsure as to whether or not it would live up to expectations.
Some of you are probably wondering at this point why I would even want one in the first place as my hair is naturally curly. Well curly it may be, but sleek and smooth is definitely is not. I've always had quite dry, frizzy hair, and have been longing to find something to give me long lasting sleek curls for a while. I'd read posts and watched videos showing tutorials and results that the styler gives, and everyone seemed to achieve sleek curls, so that was the main reason I wanted to give it a whirl.

I won't go into depth about how the styler works or any technical details, but basically the styler's barrel is split into three parts. You can adjust the heat setting on each barrel individually, either 1, 2 or 3 (3 being the hottest) with the dial on the handle. Obviously, the hotter the heat, the tighter the curl will be. The beauty of this dial is that you can create different shapes of curls depending on the combination you use. As my hair is short, I've been sticking to 3-3-3 for a tight curl all the way down, or 3-3-2 for a slightly flatter top with the curl starting a little lower down. Personally, I wouldn't use any other setting purely because my hair isn't long enough. A loose wave done with the 1 and 2 settings would simply fall straight out of my hair.

When I have curled all my hair, I like to pull the curls out a little with my fingers to gently tease them apart and make them look more natural, and finish off with a spritz of hair spray. I can do this in the morning and the curls will last all day, which is something I have never experienced before when styling my hair with a curling tool. Usually curls like these drop out ofter a couple of hours and my hair is left flat and limp. The above pictures were taken late afternoon at the weekend, a good six or seven hours after styling, and as you can see there are still plenty of natural looking curls with a smooth finish and lots of volume.

All in all I would say that this most definitely lives up to the hype and even though I got this at a reduced price, I would still recommend getting it for the full £74.99 if it wasn't on offer. The quality of the tool itself is something I have seen criticised before due to it being plastic, but that doesn't bother me at all as long as it does it's job!  A couple of other things to note would be the gorgeous packaging, making it feel very luxurious, and the heat up time which is super super fast, but I will say watch your fingers!
